"High Performance Muzzleloading Big Game Rifles"

“High Performance Muzzleloading Big Game Rifles”

This excellent book by Toby Bridges covers muzzleloading hunting rifles from their beginning to modern times. Mr. Bridges gives information and details on using flintlocks and percussion cap rifles as well as modern inline rifles, or as he calls them – “front loaders. Different rifles types, ignition systems, bullets, and powders are discussed, as well as accessories and game laws affecting muzzle loading hunting in many states. He goes into depth on velocities and energy produced by different powder charges and bullets, along with their trajectories and realistic killing ranges for game from whitetail deer to moose. The author obviously has a lifetime of experience with muzzleloaders, and has taken a great number of game animals with this type of rifle. The book includes a great number of excellent color photographs. As a beginning muzzleloader shooter myself, I found many good tips and lots of sound advice. The Savage ML 110 is discussed at length, which is currently the only production muzzleloader that can use smokeless powder. A valuable resource volume for the muzzleloading hunter, and a darn good read!
